91 Immutable Laws of Weight Loss

# 81 - Law of Standing

If you stand instead of sitting you burn around 23 more calories per hundred pounds of body weight per hour.

So standing at work for 8 hours over sitting for a 150-pound person would burn 34 x 8 = 272 extra calories. Note that 1.5 x 23 = 34.

I spend two hours per day taking trains to work. I could burn 68 extra calories by standing instead of sitting.

This is another small change that can add up to weight loss.
