Your body is a survival machine. Through billions of years of evolution, it devised mechanisms to help retain weight so you don’t starve to death when food is scarce. If you lose too much weight your body slows your metabolism. By gaining weight during your diet cycle you prevent your metabolism from slowing. In addition, if you’re gaining weight you’re probably eating foods you enjoy and this reward system is valuable to losing weight and keeping it off. I gained weight on 42% of the days and lost on 58%. This weight gain has helped me lose it. Each peak is weight gain; the trick is to avoid exceeding previous peaks and to stay close to the daily goal line with your trend line. If you gain more than you lose then you’ll gain weight. The reward is when you’re ahead of your daily goal you should celebrate or reward yourself and eat the foods you don’t normally eat (i.e. junk food, fattening food, etc.). |
