To reach the moon a rocket will make small adjustments. The earlier these adjustments are made the smaller they need to be. Big adjustments too early will likely also set you off course by overshooting your target. To reach your goal weight and stay below it is the same. You need to make small adjustments. Big changes are hard and usually, don’t stick. The small changes make it easy to lose weight. Some people drink regular soda at 150 calories per 12 oz. can. Drink four of these per day and you have a 600 calorie excess or over a pound a week. A small change is to drink zero calorie diet soda or water. This small change alone could be all that you need to keep your weight off. But if that doesn’t do it then add another and another until you are staying with the one pound a week weight loss target. Add exercise by walking more. Start with five minutes if you’re out of shape and build to as much as is needed to stay on target. Keep testing and making these small changes until you’re on your weight loss target. Get off your bus or subway one stop earlier and keep moving it back until you have a long walk. Eliminate one bad food at a time. Five calories here, ten there, it adds up and turns you from gaining weight to losing weight. Try to implement one rule in this book at a time to make small adjustments to your habits. |
