# 23 - Law of Temporary Weight Loss

You never want to lose weight temporarily and then gain it back. If you are losing weight you should only do it if you plan to keep it off. Keeping the weight off is harder than losing it. As the losing part is a short period.

If you’re losing 30 pounds it should take about 30 weeks. That’s 210 days or about seven months. Keeping it off takes the rest of your life. If you’re 20 and live to 80, that’s 60 years.  Keeping weight off for 60 years is not an easy task. The key is to take it one day at a time.

If you’re going to lose 30 pounds and gain it back you’re better off trying to stay at your current weight.
