# 9 - Law of Weight Variation

“The trend is your friend” – common stock market wisdom

Your weight will vary. Like a stock price your weight will move up and down but will follow a trend. Except in a stock, you want the trend to go up and with weight loss down. Here is my weight loss chart:

My weight didn’t go in a straight line. There was variation. The important thing isn’t the day to day changes but the trend. My average change each day was 9/10 of a pound. My weight was up 42% of the days and down 58%.

I gained 4.0 pounds in one day and my maximum one-day loss was 2.8 pounds.

The variation can be due to whether or not you went to the bathroom, how much salt you ate or liquids you drink. The important part is do not worry about the variation worry about the trend. If your trend is going down too fast you want to slow it. If it’s behind your one-pound-a-week goal then do what it takes to speed it up. Watch your calories and increase your exercise.

I often saw days where I expected to gain weight but lost it. It even appears that if you eat a lot you might not see the weight gain for a day later.  Don’t panic if you’re up and definitely don’t quit.
