# 73 - Law of Sugar

“Sugar, sugar, honey, honey you are my candy girl” – The Archies

Reduce the sugar you eat. Look at the ingredients and avoid foods that have sugar in the first three ingredients. Limit them when behind your daily goal.

What is sugar?

It’s found naturally in most plants, but especially in sugarcane and sugar beets and is refined into the white substance we know.

Is sugar bad for you?

Anything taken to its extreme is bad for you, even water.

Other forms of sugar to look for:
• High fructose corn syrup (HFCS) - 55 percent fructose and 45 percent glucose.
• Glucose
• Dextrose
• Fructose
• Sucrose
• Maltose
• Lactose

Diseases linked to sugar consumption:
• Diabetes
• Obesity
• Heart disease
• High blood pressure
• Cancer

A teaspoon of sugar has 15 calories. This adds up. The taste might set you off to want to eat more. There are studies that show its addictiveness.

Most food you buy in a store will contain some form of added sugar. A can of soda contains 10 teaspoons of sugar.

Read labels and watch what you eat.
