91 Immutable Laws of Weight Loss

# 2 - Law of the Target Weight or Daily Goal

Having a daily target weight is the best way to lose weight and keep it off. One of the first questions of weight loss is how fast should you lose it? On the Excel Diet, my recommendation is to try to lose one pound a week. If you lose more than this the diet may be too hard. If less than a pound a week the weight loss may take too long. The Excel Diet Spreadsheet will take care of this by calculating what you should weigh every day. You enter your starting weight, starting date and your daily goal is automatically calculated.

You don’t need a spreadsheet or Excel to do the diet. You can use a piece paper to calculate your target weight.

If you don’t have Excel, write your starting weight on a piece of paper. Then write the dates in a column. Subtract 0.15 from your weight the first two days of the week. On the remaining five days subtract 0.14.

This is your target weight. For example, if you weigh 180 pounds on March 14th.
DateWeightTargetCalc
March 14180
March 15179.85180.00 – 0.15
March 16179.70179.85 – 0.15
March 17179.56179.70 – 0.14
March 18179.42179.56 – 0.14
March 19179.28179.42 – 0.14
March 20179.14179.28 – 0.14
March 21179.00179.14 – 0.14

Your goal each day is to weigh less than or equal to the target. If you are losing weight too quickly, more than a pound a week, then eat more and exercise less. If you are behind your daily target then eat less and exercise more.
