# 67 - Law of Low Sugar Protein Bars

I don’t know if I could have lost weight without these. They worked for me but might not work for you. A lot of people cringe when I tell them that two meals of protein bars are a big part of what helped me lose the weight. What I like about them are:
• Low calorie
• Low sugar content
• Easy to carry
• Tastes good but not too good
• Makes decisions easy
• Filling

The four brands I eat are:
• Atkins
• Pure Protein
• Market Pantry – High Protein (Target’s brand)
• Questbar
• MetRx Protein bar

If you buy them, buy in bulk (6-pack or 12-pack), you’ll save a few dollars. The prices also vary by store. My preferred locations are Target for most of the bars and Vitamin Shoppe for the QuestBar. I don’t like going to GNC because they make you pay $15.00 to join to get a discount and charge sales tax for the bars. You may also be able to find a deal online.

One bar is from 100 – 310 calories. So two for breakfast and two for lunch and one for a snack would put me a little over 1000 calories.

They are very convenient and saved me meal preparation time and time traveling and waiting at a restaurant or fast food place. They also helped when I was hungry and if I didn’t have them I might have gone to the candy machine for a snack. How you use them is up to you. They definitely helped me.

One problem I have with them is I sometimes would eat too many at a sitting. It doesn’t happen often but last night I got hungry very late at night and decided to have one bar but within a few minutes I had three bars.

I’m in the process of adopting a new habit while eating them. I time myself and try to exceed at least 10 minutes while eating one. I also must drink a glass of water before eating the next one and wait at least 15 minutes before eating the second one. Again, these are rules I’ll try to implement for myself but you need to come up with your own solutions for any type of problems you run into.
