“If you wait until the last minute and don’t have a deadline, you’ll never finish” – Al Berg “Work expands to fill the time available for its completion” – Parkinson’s Law By setting a daily goal you’re essentially setting a deadline. This will keep you focused on your diet. Without the deadline, you may never finish. With it, you have something to shoot for. There are two phases of weight loss, losing the weight and the second harder part, keeping it off. The weight-loss phase will last 30 weeks if you’re losing 30 pounds and the keep-it-off phase can last for 30 years or however long you want to keep the weight off. By having a daily target weight, you are forced to moderate you’re eating and increase your exercise whenever you’re behind the target. If you’re not on track, then you must do what it takes to start gaining on the goal. Many people will need deadlines to finish a task and weight loss is no different. A weekly loss of one pound is just right. After reaching your goal weight you still have a deadline. |
